Terms & conditions

Please respect our terms and conditions. They are in place for the safety and comfort of both our guests and the neighbours. We encourage you to have fun and to enjoy your stay, but please adhere to the policies. 


 1. Booking


1. The caravan is privately and family owned and is offered for holiday hire on a private basis.

2. The person making the booking must be at least 21 years old and accepts responsibility for all members of their party.

3. The booking is only confirmed once the required deposit or full payment has been received.

4. The person who makes the booking must ensure that all information provided is accurate.

5. The caravan may only be occupied by the guests named or agreed as part of the booking. Additional guests or visitors must be agreed with the owner in advance.


2. Check-In and Check-Out


1. Check-in and check-out are available on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays only.

2. Guests must not arrive or depart on any other day unless this has been specifically agreed with the owner in advance.

3. Check-in time is 1600 and check-out time is 1000. Early check-in or late check-out is not guaranteed.

4. Guests are asked to leave the caravan promptly at the agreed check-out time so that it can be prepared for the next guests.


3. Guest Responsibilities


•Guests agree to: Treat the caravan, its contents, furniture and equipment with care and respect.

•Keep the caravan reasonably clean and tidy throughout their stay.

•Report any damage, breakages, faults or missing items to the owner as soon as reasonably possible (4hrs).

•Pay for any damage or loss caused by themselves or members of their party, other than reasonable wear and tear.

•Use all appliances and equipment safely and in accordance with any instructions provided.

•Keep doors and windows secure when leaving the caravan.

•Respect the caravan park's rules, regulations and other guests. Keep noise to a reasonable level and avoid causing disturbance to neighbours or other holidaymakers.

•Dispose of rubbish in the designated areas.

•Leave the caravan in a reasonably clean and tidy condition at the end of the stay.

•Return keys, passes and any other items provided for the stay as instructed.


4. Occupancy


1. The maximum number of guests must not exceed the number agreed at the time of booking.

2.The caravan must not be used for parties, events or gatherings.

3. The caravan must not be sub-let, transferred or used by anyone other than the booked guests without prior agreement.


5. Damage and Breakages


1. Guests are responsible for any damage, loss or breakage caused during their stay by themselves or members of their party.

2. Minor accidental breakages should be reported to the owner rather than being concealed.

3. The owner reserves the right to request payment for reasonable repair or replacement costs resulting from damage caused by guests.

4. Guests will not normally be charged for reasonable wear and tear.


6. Cleaning


1. Guests are expected to leave the caravan in a clean and tidy condition.

2. Crockery, cooking equipment and other items used during the stay should be cleaned and returned to their proper places.

3. Excessive cleaning, rubbish removal or cleaning required as a result of misuse may incur an additional charge.


7. Smoking and Vaping


1. Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the caravan or on the decking. Any evidence of smoking or vaping inside the caravan may result in a cleaning or deodorising charge.


8. Pets


1. Pets are not permitted subject to prior agreement with the owner. Where pets are permitted, this policy applies:

•Pet charge: A charge of £20 per pet applies for the duration of the stay.

•Service dogs: Service dogs are free of charge, but guests must provide valid proof of service-dog status before arrival.

•Furniture: Pets are not permitted on any furniture, including sofas, chairs, or other seating.

beds: Pets are not allowed on beds under any circumstances.

•When leaving the property: Pets must be crate trained and kept safely in a suitable crate if they are left unattended in the property.

•Accidents/soiling: If a pet soils or damages carpets, bedding, furniture, or any other part of the property, an additional cleaning fee may be charged to cover the cost of professional cleaning or replacement where necessary.

•Responsible ownership: Owners are responsible for their pets at all times and must ensure that pets do not cause disturbance, damage, or excessive noise.


9. Park Rules


1. Guests must comply with all rules and requirements of the holiday park/site where the caravan is situated.

2. The owner is not responsible for changes to park facilities, entertainment, opening times, amenities or services operated by the park.


10. Prohibited Use


1. The caravan must not be used for:

•Illegal activities.

•Parties or unauthorised events.

•Commercial activities without the owner's permission.

•Any activity that could cause damage to the caravan or nuisance to others.

•Subletting or allowing unauthorised persons to stay.

•Charging electric vehicles from the caravan is strictly forbidden.


11. Keys and Site Passes


1. Guests are responsible for any keys, entry cards, passes or other access items provided to them.

2. Lost or damaged keys/passes may result in a charge for replacement.


12. Personal Belongings


1. Guests are responsible for their own personal belongings and valuables during their stay.

2. The owner accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to guests' personal property.


13. Problems During Your Stay


1. If you experience a problem with the caravan, please contact the owner as soon as possible so that we have a reasonable opportunity to resolve it.

2. Guests should not arrange significant repairs or replacements themselves without first obtaining the owner's agreement, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent further damage.


14. Winter Closure


This operates – November to January

The park is open for private guest bookings from November to January. Please note that park facilities may be limited, reduced or closed during this period due to seasonal operations. Guests should check facility availability before booking. No refund will be provided due to limited or unavailable park facilities.


15. Cancellation


Cancellation terms will be provided at the time of booking and may depend on the amount paid and how close the cancellation is to the holiday date. Any refund will be subject to the agreed cancellation terms.


16. Owner's Right to Refuse or End a Stay


1. The owner reserves the right to refuse a booking or require guests to leave the caravan where there is serious or repeated breach of these Terms & Conditions, including:

•Excessive noise or antisocial behaviour.

•Unauthorised occupancy.

•Deliberate or serious damage.

• Illegal activity.

•Serious breach of caravan park rules.

•Smoking inside the caravan where prohibited. In such circumstances, no refund will be provided.


17. Changes to the Booking


1. Any changes to the dates, number of guests or other significant booking details must be agreed with the owner in advance.

2. The owner cannot guarantee that requested changes will be possible.


18. MONTHLY COMPETITION – TERMS & CONDITIONS


1. Promoter

The competition is promoted by Lakeside Retreat, Haggerston Castle (“the Promoter”). 


2. Eligibility

The competition is open to UK residents aged 18 years or over. Employees of the Promoter, their immediate families, and anyone professionally connected with the competition are  eligible to enter. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any winner. 


3. How to Enter

To enter the monthly competition, entrants must:

    1.Like the competition post.

    2.Tag 3 friends in the comments.

    3.Share the competition post to their Facebook timeline.

Only entries that have completed all required steps will be eligible for the prize draw.


4. Competition Period

Entries for each monthly competition will open at 11:59pm on the last day of the relevant month. A winner will be selected at random on the 4th day of the following month. The winner will be contacted via the Facebook account used to enter.


5. The Prize

The winner will receive a 3-night stay at Lakeside Retreat, Haggerston Castle. 

*The stay is for up to 6 guests.

*The prize is valid for off-peak dates only.

*The prize is subject to availability and must be booked in advance. 

*The prize cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to another person unless agreed by the Promoter. 

*The prize does not include travel costs, food, entertainment, additional purchases or any other costs associated with the stay.


6. Off-Peak Dates

*The stay must be taken on dates classed by the Promoter as off-peak. Peak periods, school holidays, bank holidays, special event dates and other excluded dates may apply. The Promoter will confirm available dates with the winner when the prize is claimed.


7. £100 Refundable Security Deposit

The winner will be required to pay a £100 refundable security deposit before their stay. The deposit is held as security against damage, excessive cleaning, missing items, breaches of the accommodation rules or any other reasonable costs arising from the stay. Provided that the accommodation is left in an acceptable condition and there are no outstanding charges or damages, the full £100 deposit will be refunded after the stay. If damage, loss, excessive cleaning or other chargeable issues occur, the Promoter reserves the right to deduct the reasonable cost from the deposit. The winner will be informed of any deductions. 


8. Booking the Prize

The winner must contact the Promoter within 7 days of being notified. Failure to respond within this period may result in the Promoter selecting an alternative winner. The stay is subject to availability and must be taken within the period specified by the Promoter. Once a booking has been confirmed, the Promoter's normal cancellation and accommodation terms may apply. The winner must provide the required booking information and comply with all accommodation rules. 


9. Winner Selection

The winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries received during the competition period. The Promoter's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection process.


10. Winner Announcement

The winner's first name and/or Facebook name may be announced on the Promoter's Facebook page following the draw. By entering, entrants acknowledge that their name may be used for this purpose if they are selected as the winner.


11. Facebook Disclaimer

This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook/Meta. By entering the competition, entrants agree to a complete release of Facebook/Meta from any claims relating to the competition.


12. General Conditions

The prize is subject to availability. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, amend or suspend the competition where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify entries that are fraudulent, abusive, incomplete or do not comply with these Terms & Conditions. The prize cannot be exchanged for a cash alternative. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury arising from participation in the competition or use of the prize, except where liability cannot legally be excluded. The winner and their guests must comply with all applicable Haggerston Castle and accommodation rules during their stay.


13. Personal Information

Personal information provided by entrants will only be used for the purposes of administering the competition, contacting the winner and arranging the prize, in accordance with the Promoter's applicable privacy practices.


14. Acceptance of Terms

By entering the competition, entrants confirm that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.


19. Acceptance of Terms


By making a booking, the lead guest confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions and agrees to ensure that all members of their party comply with them.
